This is a contract 4+ months plus possible extension position.
Job Description
- Responsible for high-level network planning, design, and optimization
- Develops strategies and direction for network systems solutions using current and emerging technologies (including wireless).
- Translates business requirements into network or process designs.
- Plans and recommends network hardware, systems management software and architecture.
- Approves and modifies network design and architecture to ensure compliance.
- Configures and maintains routers, switches, and hubs for the network systems (including wireless).
- Evaluates and recommends new products, maintains knowledge of emerging technologies for application to the enterprise.
- Monitors network performance, ensures capacity planning is performed, and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvement.
- Performs troubleshooting procedures and designs resolution scripts.
- May take on role of Project Leader for special enterprise-wide assignments.
Knowledge & Experience
- Expert knowledge of WIFI networking technologies
- Expert knowledge of network security and firewall administration
- Expert knowledge of TCP/IP networking
- Expert knowledge of network equipment in a large enterprise environment. For example, Cisco, HP etc.
- Expert knowledge of Cloud networking provisioning and deployment in AWS, Azure, Google
- Expert knowledge and extensive experience administering a large, multi-site WAN network
- Expert Knowledge of dynamic WAN routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
- Serve as a technical resource for others throughout client, providing subject matter expertise.
- The candidates considered for this position must be capable of independent work success, have good communication skills, and disciplined to follow client processes and procedures.
- The candidate must have the ability to be a self-starter and capable of ‘hitting the ground running' to become productive in a minimal amount of time.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, including contributing to bid proposals, strategy whitepapers, and best practices documents.
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
- 5-7 years of work experience in infrastructure/network environments performing planning, architecture design, engineering (hardware and software) and optimization.
- 5-7 years of experience administering a large, multi-site WAN/Cloud networks
- 5-7 years of experience working with WAN dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
- 5-7 years of experience administering WIFI networks
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support of enterprise, WAN, Wifi, VPN technologies and Internet related systems in a large, multi-site environment.
- Design, implement, and support routing infrastructure using common routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and support firewall/DMZ security infrastructure.
- Provide top tier troubleshooting and support for various WAN, WIFI, Cloud and Internet issues.
- Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, transmission and signaling links into complete network configurations.
- Serve as a technical resource for others throughout client site, providing subject matter expertise.
- Create technology road maps to achieve both short-and-long-term complex business requirements to forecast capacity and resource needs.
- Responsible for in-depth knowledge within Network domain (i.e. WAN/Extranet/ Intranet/Wireless/ Firewalls, SDN, Cloud Connectivity Solutions, etc.
